[SOLD] Malachite kingfisher : The Whitney model

This is the pen we posted on Fountain Pen Day on Instagram. It reminded a good friend of ours of the small Malachite kingfishers that sit on branches overlooking a nearby river. When they dart out to hover over the water their iridescent turquoise/sapphire/emerald wings shimmer in the sun and this fountain pen sparkles similarly, even indoors. The see-through window is slightly cloudy, perhaps because I added a touch of gold-coloured dust to the clear resin, not realising it would land up directly above the nib (which is sheer coincidence, but a happy one).

I’m still at the stage where casting our pen blanks involves more art and random luck than science, and every now and then one blows me away. This one certainly did! (The original Malachite Kingfisher pen has been sold, however I have made another batch of pen blanks which have similar colours. No promises about a clear window being in the same position though as this is really does involve luck.)
